“The Sequel to SQRXZ 2”
SQRXZ 3 … keeps its punishing roots while delivering smooth
gameplay on Sega’s beloved hardware.
Overview
SQRXZ 3 continues the brutal retro-inspired saga of platforming precision.
Following the success of SQRXZ 2, the Retroguru team raised the stakes with
sharper level design, fresh hazards, and an expanded storyline. Ported to the Dreamcast
by Xavier “Indiket” Vallejo, the game keeps its punishing roots while delivering smooth
gameplay on Sega’s beloved hardware.
🕹️ Gameplay
Timing and memorization are everything: collect mandatory items to exit the level,
dodge traps, and expect to restart often. SQRXZ 3 pushes the difficulty even
higher than its predecessor.
- Levels: 20 multi-layered stages with new mechanics and enemies.
- Boss Fights: Challenging encounters punctuate key milestones.
- Audio: 20+ original chiptune tracks composed by Syphus and Maze.
- Secrets: Hidden routes and collectables for hardcore players.
- Difficulty: Adaptive spikes and even tighter platforming challenges.
🌄 Visuals and Audio
Building upon the 16-bit-inspired style of its predecessor, SQRXZ 3 introduces
richer backgrounds, more detailed sprites, and new environmental themes. The chiptune
soundtrack evolves with faster, more experimental compositions, intensifying the
challenge with rhythmic drive.
