As a big fan of Black Sabbath, I’ve been practicing some of the riffs, just for fun. While I don’t consider myself a skilled guitar player by any means, doing this brings me closer to the music and helps me gain a higher appreciation for it.
Riffs played:
Into the Void (Master of Reality – 1971)
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (Sabbath Bloody Sabbath – 1973)
Children of the Grave (Master of Reality – 1971)
Snowblind (Vol 4 – 1972)
A National Acrobat (Sabbath Bloody Sabbath – 1973)
Hole in the Sky (Sabotage – 1975)
Under the Sun (Vol 4 – 1972)
Black Sabbath (Self titled – 1970)
Crazy Train (Ozzy – Blizzard of Ozz – 1980)
Iron Man (Paranoid – 1970)
Paranoid (Paranoid – 1970)
Heaven and Hell (Heaven and Hell – 1980)
War Pigs (Paranoid – 1970)
I tried my best to use the right gear to match the sound of Tony Iommi. The amp I used is Iommi’s signature Laney. The smaller backstage version. The dial settings can be seen in the beginning of the video. For the C# tuning, as heard on albums Master of Reality, Vol 4, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Sabatoge, I used a Gibson SG (stained red) with a Duncan JB for the bridge and a Duncan 59 for the neck. The other Gibson SG (blue mist) I used for the standard E tuning, for the original album and Paranoid. Can’t remember which pickups were used.
