Tony with Newt and Crystal review The Last Blockbuster. In this Podcast / Movie Review of This documentary they’ll talk about all the things that make it lame. Like the constant cutting to celebrities, the way its horribly structured, and how everyone its really just one big advertisement for Blockbuster merch.
The documentary tells the story of Blockbuster Video, a video rental business. The documentary explores how the video rental company put independent video rental stores out of business by striking deals with film studios. These deals, known as revenue-share deals, allowed Blockbuster to negotiate lower price than their local counterparts in exchange for a cut of the rental fees. Eventually the Blockbuster brand would crumble only leaving one store left in Bend, Oregon.
